  1. Well first of all, it's not WordPress. 😜 We're using a platform called Invision community. I've been using it for a few years now on client projects but decided to bring it to Geeks Life. Hoping we can grow a nice Community here.

  2. We have found that the combo of live AND recorded is the only way to build a channel. Because the recorded videos take care of the audience building, while the live streams take care of the nurturing of the audience the videos are creating. If you only stream on a channel, unless you already have some sort of existing audience, you will find it very challenging to ever wind up in discovery. I would suggest you stop being stubborn LOL. I would start streaming on your MAIN channel that has all the videos. Just make sure when you do, that you do it consistently at the same time every week or

  4. I think there is also a huge difference in managing a live situation and being able to stop and record everything. I once listened to a behind the scenes recording of a podcaster and Youtuber I follow (bright sun films) and he re-records almost every line! That would never work live! And that means a whole load of different skills when presenting live. You make this look easy when live-streaming!

  5. I got bit by the K-pop bug last year, it all started when I started watching a new streamer on twitch, and their playlist for the stream pretty much only consisted of K-Pop. There was some songs that I started to like after hearing them a few times. This turned into a loophole, after discovering one group, it quickly stacked up and I found even more groups which made music I started to like more and more. K-pop is often classed as a "genre", but it is as diverse as western pop-music, it's just produced somewhere else, and commonly sung in a different language, in this case, Korean. Y

  8. I will do a video showing the set-up next week. Getting ready to travel today. Stay tuned! It's actually quite easy. One thing that I can tell you to do for now is turn off the headphones for all sources when using the GoXLR by clicking on the gear icon in the audio mixer section. You should see a green headphone icon. Click that and it should turn gray. That means it's off. Then you should at least not get an echo...I will try to get the rest early next week. https://8.d.pr/Flf8If

  9. I just watched a limited series on Netflix called The Queen's Gambit. It's about a chess player. A PRO chess player. I didn't even realize that was a thing. It was pretty good. It is really strange at times, and it's hard to tell what's going on. I got lost a few times, and that is rare for me There was also quite a bit of foreshadowing. I never like when they think the viewers aren't going to get things unless they make them obvious. Like the scientist telling us the entire story leading up to that point. It's so cliché. I do recommend it though as I did find it to be a fu

  10. I have been noticing all of the changes to the Creator Studio separating content into video\live\posts and maybe shorts I don't have that yet so I don't know. I have been very stubborn in my attempt to grow a channel that goes live and uploads pre-recorded video. I usually leave my streams posted in the replays playlist and if subject related. How do you feel about that? I am anticipating the algorithm to analyze content accordingly one day and awarding different scores to content based on its origin. I am wondering if you feel the same way or have a different idea?

Upcoming group debut - Purple K!SS Purple K!SS is a seven member gir-group that will debut under RBW (Rainbow Bridge World), a company that started out small, but now are a reliable company to count on for making artists, not just idols which perform. One of their members is currently on temporary hiatus until her health improves so they can go through with their debut, hopefully early next year. They have recently released a digital pre-release single, which also comes with a performance video, based on the girls ideas themselves for the performance. 'My Heart Skip a Beat' is c

  14. So I’ve had my new M1 Mac for two days now, here’s what I’ve found. it is fast, - it’s instantly on, like an iPhone is instantly on. some stuff doesn’t work (yet), you can’t do virtual machines yet, though I understand this is in the works. you can run iPad apps, which is cool and weird! the sound is amazing too. if you do development work, things like Ruby, home brew don’t work properly. Rosetta2 is pretty seamless, though my creative cloud has crashed a few times, I’m sure this will get fixed soon. the battery lasts all day for normal use (ie not inten

  15. There are lots of options... Original Consoles These offer the most authentic experience, and some people enjoy the collecting side. The downside is that they tend to look terrible on modern TVs, so ideally you would want a CRT. Of course you don't have that problem with handheld consoles like the Game Boy though. Buying original versions of games can be super expensive, but you can also get unofficial carts with 100+ games on. Official Mini Consoles The likes of Sega, Sony, and Nintendo have released mini versions of their most popular consoles over recent years. These ha

  16. I had a VERY popular TV show reach out to me because they had no idea how to run a stream from their home. They were shocked. They were expecting me to tell them it would cost them tens of thousands of dollars, and when I told them they were floored. I mean, when Trevor Noah first started streaming from home it looked like he was using a Logitech C920...and maybe he was...but you would think these guys production teams would know this. I helped Matti Haapoja, a YouTuber, wit his initial live stream set up and he did not realize they could use all their C200's etc. So yeah, it is a pretty

  19. So I decided to wait and order the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I was originally going to get the iPhone 12 Pro because I think I would prefer that size over the big ass Max. I had the XS Max and felt it was too big. I started off with the 11 Pro Max as well, but Kali now has that phone as her LSP phone. Did you, or are you planning to order the new iPhone? Or did you get a new phone from any manufacturer this year? It's kind of mind blowing for me that in the middle of a pandemic AND a recession Apple in on track to do over 1 Billion in sales! CRAZY! I am curious to see if th

If you want to dive deep into it, start with Tim Schmoyer of Video Creators, Dan Currier of Creator Fundamentals, Darell Eves, Nick Nieman and your already here with David so I am assuming you know Luria as well. The above people will help you a lot and so will we!

  21. I have been attending ProFusion 2020 today and there is an anomaly I have noticed.... that is they can't live stream. With all of the big tech they have, I mean hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear, they have no idea how to stream. I just wanted to put that out there and maybe we can talk about how we are at the forefront of the next revolution in video production.

  23. Hi David I hope you can help me. I have looked everywhere and in the LSP groups and training but don't seem to be able to find anywhere that explains how to set up the GoXLR on Vmix. I saw your video on how to set up the mic etc but haven't seen anything on the exact steps in Vmix. I have the mini (I didn't get the full one - my wife said I wasn't cool enough to change my voice etc LOL). I thought I had set it up correctly with the info I had but the levels etc don't seem to be right plus I wanted to use the sliders to control the level of audio etc which I think is s

  25. David, Have you thought about sharing how to "produce shows" for others from A-Z? I've done a few during COVID-19 via Zoom and been a MOD for an LA Wordpress Conference (which they used Blaze Networks to produce). I'd love to learn from your experience in this area. Thoughts?

  26. I have a bit of a dilemma in the fact that I have 2 different ideas I'm passionate about Live Streaming and building a business around but I know I cannot focus on both. I own both of the domain names, already have websites setup and YouTube Channels created as well as social media accounts created for both ideas. IDEA #1: The first idea is about creating a channel about my favorite Hockey Team. Live streaming after every game as well as creating content videos to attract an audience. IDEA #2: The second idea revolves around fitness and getting healthy. I just turned 50 and nee

  27. I think this would be a better niche since the health/weight loss is SOO heavily saturated. And you can monetize anything if you have listeners. You just need to have something you can show them. And if you do the hockey thing, you can also do the weight loss thing along with it...but not make that the focus. It would just be something you're doing and talking about sometimes...and see how your audience responds. Bring personal things into your content for sure! And the fact that you are starting now is AWESOME! Just go for it! p.s. so sorry about the late reply. I guess I mis

  31. Did anyone else see this movie? I had a good friend give a really bad review so I skipped this in the theaters but thought a little differently about it when I watched it a few days ago. I think the movie reached for some type of higher intellectual premise much like they did in “Tree of Life” which was another really weird and slightly disturbing.

  35. Wow thanks for all this info Paul! I like David’s idea of capturing these through a capture card and streaming them, will have to look into that too! You might have seen my Mac classic in the unboxing video - I have a tonne of original retro machines; zx spectrum (timex in the US), BBC micro, original gameboy and gameboy color, and lots of old Apple computers!

  37. I don't have a Netflix subscription, so I haven't come around to watch the documentary yet, but it's correct that there are used massive resources on training, marketing and research before a group have their debut. There have been some numbers going around online, pointing out that debuting a new group could cost upwards off $1 million, that includes training, marketing, research, producing music video, promotions in music shows etc. Then you got comebacks, most groups have two of them every year, which comes with a mini-album that contains up to 6 songs, one music video and two to

  39. A group often cover songs from other groups before they have their debut, to show off their skills, whether it's dance or vocal covers, to build up hype around them, and to let people know about their abilities. After a group have had their debut, they mostly do their own songs and choreographies, but some random covers occur from time to time, especially if they are from a smaller and more unknown label. Dancing and singing is essential to all K-Pop groups, you'll seldom find a group who does only vocals, dance is always implemented.
    1 point
  40. you say covering, but you mean just dancing too their song? So, is K-Pop a combo of dancing and singing, or is K-Pop where they dance to other people's songs?

  41. Do all k-pop bands have like 20 members in them? That seems like it would be crazy to choreograph.

  43. Just an update...this phone is kinda amazing. I have been getting some good photos and videos with it. And the stabilization is actually on the MAIN camera that I use, not the telephoto like I originally though. It's on the wide. I use the wide and ultra-wide the most. I have a few vlogs in edit coming out that were all shot on the phone. I will then be doing a review of it. Going to try a new series Will I Return It. That was @Mortensuggestion on a name. I was going to call it Will I Keep It. Anyway, stay tuned. I will update the blog post with that as they come out.

  48. I went from an iPhone 11 Pro Max, to iPhone 12 Pro this year, as I wanted a more manageable device. There is a trade-off this year, where I didn't get the new improved sensor-shift wide camera, and the slightly longer telezoom, but main reason for me to upgrade was to get a smaller device. I've now had it since launch day (October 23rd), and I do love the smaller phone, I find it much more manageable for me in daily use, just waiting for the new leather case to arrive next week.
